A former Meadow Woods Middle School resource deputy was suspended last year after an investigation found he kissed a female student on the cheek and repeatedly allowed another girl to skip classes so the two of them could talk, records show.
Deputy Steve Bersia’s misconduct was detailed in an Internal Affairs investigation released last week in response to a public record request. He was disciplined in August with a 40-hour suspension followed by a year if probation for violating the agency’s policy on employee conduct. Under probation, Bersia was prohibited from certain job aspects like receiving promotions or working extra-duty shifts, records show.
