FREE Webinar: Advocating for LGBTQ+ Young People in Schools and Juvenile Justice Facilities

On February 26, 2018 from 12-1 p.m. EST the Legal Center for Youth Justice and Education will host a webinar on the intersection of education and the juvenile justice system for LGBTQ+ youth. The webinar will include a description of how school climates push LGBTQ+ youth into the school-to-prison pipeline, the experiences of LGBTQ+ youth in juvenile justice facilities, and educational issues LGBTQ+ young people face when reentering.

The panel discussion will focus on advocacy tips for practitioners who work on behalf of LGBTQ+ students in schools and/or juvenile justice facilities.

Panelists include: Kara Ingelhart, Law Fellow at Lambda Legal; Erica Smith, Adolescent Case Manager for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Adolescent Initiative Program at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center; Kristina Moon, Staff Attorney at Education Law Center-PA; and Asaf Orr, Transgender Youth Project Staff Attorney at the National Center for Lesbian Rights. Lizzy Wingfield, a Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellow at Education Law Center-PA, will moderate the panel.
